Overclocking

In the absence of custom liquid cooling, our CPU's overclock limit usually sits at 4.4GHz which requires anywhere between 1.32V and 1.4V depending on the motherboard. The Rampage had no problem ramping up 800MHz from its base frequency of 3.6GHz to reach the maximum 4.4GHz while requiring 1.36V, and with the CPU temperature sitting around 90°C under full load in Prime95.

Software

Asus bundles a huge software suite with the Rampage and the vast majority is shared amongst its other ROG boards, which you can see more of here. There are a couple of exceptions, courtesy of the SupermeFX Hi-Fi front panel amplifier, which includes a headphone impedance sensor, plus bit-depth and sample rate adjustment, Sonic Studio II which offers various streaming and recording tweaks, and a ROG/SupremeFX front-end for the usual Realtek audio suite.

EFI

Again the EFI doesn't differ much to Asus's other ROG boards, although you're able to pick from a selection of colours and effects within the EFI for the RGB lighting system so you don't have to install the Aura software if you don't want to. You also get features such as Secure Erase, a utility for the optional ROG OC panel, additional fan controls in the Qfan control suite for the included fan port hub plus a mass of overclocking and tuning options.
